Portable appliance testing is a safety procedure to ensure the electrical appliances used by places of employment, service or hire will not cause damage or injury to employees, contractors, service users or visitors.

There are a variety of laws and regulations that place responsibility on businesses to perform such tests as often as deemed necessary to ensure the equipment is functioning properly.

Fixed Wire Inspection & Testing (EICR)

Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) - Commonly known as Fixed Wire Testing, hard wire testing, electrical testing or periodic inspection and testing. EICR is a formal document/certificate that is produced following an assessment of the electrical installation within your premises or on site and is included in the price.

Fixed wire testing is a regime involving professional testing of the electrical systems, circuits and services carrying electricity around a building. It covers most of the hard wiring throughout a building, meaning items such as main panels, distribution boards, lighting and socket outlets are all covered.

Please be mindful that testing can cause some disruption to your premises or site due to the requirements for disconnecting numerous electrical circuits during the testing.

However, we will always ensure that the hours we work are the most convenient for you to reduce the chance of disruption to your daily business. Talk to us so we can meet your needs.

All fixed wire testing is conducted by qualified professionals in accordance with the Institute of Electrical Engineers Current Edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS7671) - This regulation does not apply to PAT Testing. We test for a range of issues including overloaded circuits, fire hazards, shock risks and lack of earthing/bonding, as well as identifying defective electrical work which could lead to future problems.

Infrared Thermal Imaging

Infrared Thermal Imaging is a crucial part of maintenance. It can detect faults in your systems, such as server rooms, that may otherwise go unnoticed. A thermographic survey is a simple and accurate way to monitor and predict when a system might fail. We can carry out a thorough thermographic survey for you to identify potential dangers and recommend ways to repair the problem.

Information is the lifeblood of modern society and business. Data stability and availability is critical to maintaining the integrity of communication networks, Customer record management, accounting systems, security systems, banking, and industrial sectors.

When equipment fails due to overheating costs mount quickly. At large, distributed IT facilities, unplanned failures can cost millions. In smaller, organisations values may be less dramatic, but the loss of productivity and competitive benefits may be significant.

Regardless of the size of your IT installation, there are a large number of components that can potentially fail at any time. Electrical connections, cabling, component power supplies, rack units, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), cooling systems, heat exchangers and other devices all contribute to keeping your data flowing smoothly.

An unexpected failure on any connection can bring down your entire system. Actively monitoring the integrity of your system components can give you advance warning of trouble, so you can take immediate action before equipment failures can lead to a costly, unexpected system outage.

Emergency Light Testing

Emergency escape lighting illuminates to help people safely leave a building, this makes it easy for occupants to safely find the exit by providing clearly lit signs.
LEARN MORE
There are two types of periodic emergency lighting testing which should be carried out to ensure your business remains compliant:
‘Flash’ tests are a monthly test which involves illuminating emergency lights for a short period of time to check that the luminaires are in good working order.
‘Duration’ tests are an annual test in which emergency lights must remain illuminated for 1 or 3 hours, demonstrating that batteries and lamps would perform properly if required.
